Big thanks to MAD Architects for sponsoring my research project.︎︎

In the summer of 2018, I ventured out to China and North Korea for a duration of 3 weeks.

With one curiosity in mind:

What is the future of Chinese Architecture?

Born in Shenzhen, grew up in Hong Kong, later went to London when I was 18.
I always have this familiar yet distance relationship with China,
and as I went to AA and studied architecture, I couldn’t help but
found myself being more and more drawn to my roots: China.
But at this point, I could not identify what is Chinese Architecture,
Is it the traditional temple or palaces that always represent the
images of far East? Or the fast speed, copy-pasted functional buildings
that emerged after the cultural revolution? Or is this up coming trend of
nostalgic architecture that are popping up everywhere?

There is only one way to find out...
